The Diamond Head Game was an American game show that aired from January 6 to July 4, 1975, in five-day-a-week syndication. Hosted by Bob Eubanks with assistant Jane Nelson, it was the only game show taped entirely on location in Hawaii. The theme music was composed by Alan Thicke. The show had two formats. The first, used for the initial 13 weeks, involved dividing the audience into four sections representing Hawaiian islands. Contestants competed in a best-of-three faceoff, answering general knowledge questions to earn points. Correct answers awarded points, while incorrect ones gave them to opponents. Winners earned $50, and those completing the list without misses earned an additional chance. Further rounds narrowed contestants down, with the last standing entering the Money Volcano bonus round. In the Money Volcano, contestants had 15 seconds in a wind tunnel to collect prize cards and cash, prohibited from bending or trapping items. They could keep their winnings unless a $1 bill was drawn, which resulted in losing everything. The second format, starting April 7, 1975, featured two teams of three contestants answering questions for points. The winning team advanced to the Money Volcano with modified rules, including bonus envelopes offering cash prizes. Host Bob Eubanks later criticized the show as his worst hosting experience, though it didn’t harm his career. All episodes exist and were rerun on GSN ...
