Skyler Elizabeth Day was born on August 2, 1991, in Cumming, Georgia. She began participating in gymnastics and modeling at a young age before being discovered by a talent agent at the DMV. Her early career included co-starring in the short film "A Perilous Dance: The Damon DeRivers Story" in 2003 and moving to California with her family in 2004 to pursue acting opportunities.

Day auditioned extensively, landing roles in television films and series such as "The Adventures of Ociee Nash," "iCarly," "Southland," "Drop Dead Diva," and "Parenthood." She gained recognition for recurring roles in "Gigantic" (2010-2011) and "Parenthood" starting in 2011.

In addition to acting, Day is a singer-songwriter. She released her debut EP, "Between the I and the You," in 2014, followed by "Los Angeles" in 2017, and "Songs from the Greenhouse" in 2021. Her singles include "Honest," "Sleepwalking," and others released from 2019 onward.

Day was homeschooled after second grade and has siblings Savannah and Dalton, who are also involved in performance arts. Her parents were gymnasts, with her father now working in construction. She married actor Ian Nelson in 2017, after he proposed during a trip to Italy. In July 2024, she announced her pregnancy and gave birth that December.
