Siskin Childrens Institute
Siskin Children's Institute is a nonprofit organization based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with additional locations in Nashville, Tennessee, and remote services in North Georgia. Founded in 1950 by Mose and Garrison Siskin, the institute supports children with special needs and their families through various programs and services. Its headquarters in downtown Chattanooga features a library, community education sessions, professional development seminars, and family support programs. The institute operates the Siskin Children's Institute-T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital Center for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, which provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children with developmental delays or disorders. It also employs three doctoral-level researchers focused on studying developmental disabilities. In Chattanooga, the institute runs an inclusive childcare center for children aged six weeks to five years. In 2020, it opened a pediatric clinic in Nashville. Siskin Children's Institute offers services such as developmental pediatrics, therapy, and home- and community-based care. It is affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga and Children's Hospital at Erlanger. The institute was established after Garrison Siskin, following a life-threatening injury in 1942, vowed to dedicate his life to helping others if his leg were spared. With his brother Mose, he founded the organization, which initially provided outpatient services like physical therapy, speech therapy, and free dental care.
