Shannon Sedgwick Davis
Shannon Sedgwick Davis is an American attorney and activist who leads the Bridgeway Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to ending mass atrocities globally. She holds degrees from McMurry University and Baylor Law School. Before joining Bridgeway in 2007, she worked at Geneva Global as Vice President and at International Justice Mission (IJM) as Director of Public Affairs, where her efforts included rescuing children from sex trafficking in Cambodia, documented in the Emmy-winning "Children for Sale." She has also contributed to *The Huffington Post*.
Sedgwick Davis authored *To Stop a Warlord* (2019), detailing her work against the Lord's Resistance Army, with a foreword by Howard G. Buffett. She has received numerous awards, including Baylor’s Young Lawyer of the Year (2011), Spirit of McMurry Award, Nomi Network’s Abolitionist Award, and Rotary Club of San Antonio’s Outstanding Young San Antonian. In 2015, she was honored by Saving Innocence as a Global Human Rights Hero; in 2019, she received the Navy SEAL "Fire in the Gut" Award and spoke at the Global Girls Summit, where she was awarded Globally Awesome Girl.
Sedgwick Davis resides in San Antonio with her husband and two sons. The Bridgeway Foundation, established in 2000 as part of Bridgeway Capital Management, supports peace and reconciliation in oppressed regions. It funds organizations like Aegis Trust and Invisible Children, notably aiding efforts against the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda under Joseph Kony. While credited for its impact, the foundation has faced criticism for alleged ties to mercenaries in its operations.
