Ormanjhi Block, located in Ranchi District of Jharkhand, is part of a region characterized by its hilly terrain and gradual deforestation, which has led to increased land cultivation. The block has an elevation of 724 feet above sea level, with an average annual rainfall of 135 centimeters. It shares boundaries with Ramgarh and Hazaribagh districts, is drained by the Barm River, and lies on National Highway 20.

According to the 2011 Census, Ormanjhi Block has a population of 94,137, with 86,583 residing in rural areas. The literacy rate is 72%, and 18% of the population lives below the poverty line. Out of 109 villages, 87 are inhabited. Cultivators and agricultural laborers form a significant portion of the workforce (47.3%).

The block has limited infrastructure: only 17 villages have power supply, 61 rely on wells for water, and most lack tap water. Telecommunications include mobile phone coverage in 71 villages and landline telephones in 15. Transportation is served by NH-20, with some villages having access to buses, autos, or tractors.

Education facilities include pre-primary, primary, middle, secondary, and senior-secondary schools (inter colleges). Healthcare services comprise primary health centers, subcenters, dispensaries, and one veterinary hospital. The block receives financial support under the Backward Regions Grant Fund, aimed at addressing regional development disparities.
