Maracaibo 15
Maracaibo 15 is a Venezuelan gaita band founded in 1974 by singer Betulio Medina in Maracaibo. The name reflects the group's original membership of 15 members. The band combines traditional gaita music with other folkloric genres such as parranda, as well as international styles like cumbia and porro. Over the years, Maracaibo 15 has released numerous songs, including "La Chinca," "Canaima," "Pologaita," "Amparito," "El Cañonazo," "Parranda 86," "Mensaje de Amistad" (featuring Oscar D'Leon), and many others. Their discography includes LPs like *Lo Mejor De Maracaibo 15* and *Maracaibo 15/90*, as well as compilations such as *Palo Palo* on the *Rough Guide To The Music Of Venezuela*. Some of their songs, like "La Moza" and "Amparito," have appeared in various albums, including *Las Mejores Gaitas* series. Maracaibo 15 has also collaborated with other artists and explored themes related to Venezuelan culture and traditions through their music.
