Madeline A. Cain (November 21, 1949 – April 4, 2022) was a trailblazing Ohio politician who served as both a member of the Ohio House of Representatives and the first woman mayor of Lakewood, Ohio. During her tenure in the Ohio House, she represented part of Cuyahoga County for four terms, totaling seven years.

Born in Cleveland to Mary Rita Quinn and Edward V. Cain, Madeline was the second of four daughters. Her father was a prosecutor. She attended St. Augustine Academy and joined the Sisters of Charity at 18, dedicating eight years to the Catholic Church. During this period, she earned a degree in English and Theology from Ursuline College and later taught there.

Cain's community involvement was extensive. She was active in organizations such as Lakewood Business and Professional Women, the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, Cudell Neighborhood Improvement Inc., and the Cuyahoga County Women’s Political Caucus. Her affiliations also included the Lakewood Democratic Club, City Club, and the Ohio Women's Policy and Research Commission, reflecting her deep commitment to public service and civic engagement.
