Logan Ice
Logan Durrell Ice, born on May 27, 1995, in Puyallup, Washington, is a former professional baseball catcher. He attended Governor John R. Rogers High School, where he became the varsity team's starting catcher as a freshman. After not being selected in the 2013 MLB draft, Ice enrolled at Oregon State University and played for the Beavers. He started as a freshman, appearing in 53 of 59 games, and by his junior year, he batted .310 with seven home runs and 39 RBIs, earning Pac-12 First Team honors and the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year award. He was also a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award.
The Cleveland Indians drafted Ice in 2016 with the 72nd overall pick, and he signed for an $850,000 bonus. His professional career included stints with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (2016), Lake County Captains (2017), Lynchburg Hillcats, and Akron RubberDucks (2018). In 2019, he played for Akron, batting .180 with four home runs and 22 RBIs in 79 games. Ice retired in January 2020 and began working as a baseball instructor in Vancouver, Washington. He also appeared on the NPR podcast *Planet Money* in October 2019.
