James J. "Gentleman Jim" Yeager (February 2, 1909 – May 17, 1971) was an American football player and coach. He played as a defensive lineman and guard at Kansas State University from 1928 to 1930 and graduated in 1931. Yeager coached at Fort Hays State University in 1935, leading the team to an 8–2 record and a conference co-championship. He then coached at Iowa State University from 1937 to 1940, compiling a 16–19–1 record, with his best season being 7–1–1 in 1938. Yeager later coached at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1941 to 1943 and again from 1946 to 1947, achieving a 24–17–2 record and winning conference championships in 1942 and 1943. His overall college football coaching record was 48–38–3. Yeager died of a heart attack on May 17, 1971, at the age of 62.
