The Fiat Multipla (Type 186) is a six-seater car produced by Fiat from 1998 to 2010. Based on the Bravo/Brava, it was shorter and wider than its competitors, offering two rows of three seats for increased seating and cargo volume. Sales began in Italy in November 1998, with other markets following a year later. The Multipla was popular in Italy but less successful elsewhere. The car's design was first shown as a concept at the 1996 Paris Motor Show, with the production version debuting at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show. Its design was exhibited at New York’s MOMA in 1999 and won several awards, including Top Gear Car of the Year (2000) and Family Car of the Year for four consecutive years (2001-2004). However, its unique styling was also criticized; The Daily Telegraph ranked it #2 on their list of the 100 Ugliest Cars in 2008, and it was later named the ugliest car of all time by Car Throttle readers in 2014. In 2004, the Multipla underwent a facelift to adopt a more restrained look, though this failed to gain critical acclaim. The car offered flexibility with adjustable front seats and removable rear seats, providing up to 1,900 liters of cargo space.
