Darca schools
Darca Schools, known as "The Path" in Aramaic, is a non-profit organization operating 47 schools and learning centers across Israel's geographic and socio-economic periphery. Established in 2010 by the Alliance Israélite Universelle and Rashi Foundation, Darca formed an alliance with YRF Israel in 2014. The network receives funding from international and Israeli foundations, businesses, individuals, and the Ministry of Education.
Darca aims to strengthen under-served communities, particularly high schools, by fostering academic excellence, social values, and leadership. It invests in teacher training and offers advanced curricula in STEM, English, and literature. The organization emphasizes instilling democratic and humanitarian values among students.
Led by Dr. Gil Pereg since its inception, Darca has achieved significant success. In 2017, it was ranked first among six networks for matriculation rates and academic excellence. By 2019, it maintained this top ranking in network quality. Despite starting in disadvantaged areas, Darca's schools boast a 93.5% matriculation rate, exceeding the national average.
Darca operates across Israel, including locations like Arava, Ashkelon, Dimona, Jerusalem, and Netivot, among others. It also manages learning centers focused on English education. Collaborating with networks such as AMIT and ORT, Darca continues to advance education in Israel's periphery.
