Creative Micro Designs, Inc. (CMD), established in 1987 by Doug Cotton and Mark Fellows, initially focused on creating products for Commodore 64 and C128 computers. Their notable offerings included JiffyDOS, an enhanced disk operating system developed by Mark Fellows starting in 1985, which improved compatibility and performance. The company also produced hardware upgrades like SuperCPU, a 65816 CPU for the C64 and C128, and RAMLink, a solid-state RAM-Disk. Additionally, CMD introduced floppy disk drives (FD series) and SCSI hard drives (HD series). In 2001, CMD transitioned to selling PCs and related equipment, ceasing Commodore product sales. JiffyDOS was exclusively licensed to Maurice Randal until around 2009, after which Jim Brain acquired the license in 2010 through Retro Innovations. Other products included modems (SwiftLink/Turbo232), memory expansion devices (SuperRAMCard and 1750 XL), and peripherals like SmartTRACK/SmartMOUSE, a mouse with advanced features. CMD's history reflects its innovation in Commodore-compatible technology before shifting to PC sales.
