Colin Clish
Colin Clish (born 14 January 1944) is a former footballer who played as a left back for Newcastle United, Rotherham United, and Doncaster Rovers. He also played cricket as a batsman for Durham Colts and Durham County Juniors in 1961 and 1962. Before his senior career, he represented Chester-le-Street Schools and Durham County Schools under 15s from 1957 to 1959, alongside Alan Suddick and Norman Hunter. Clish began his football career at Newcastle United in the English Second Division, making his debut in a 2–2 draw against Sheffield United in the League Cup on 2 October 1961. He captained Newcastle's Youth Cup-winning team in 1962 and played 23 league and cup matches for the club. In December 1963, he joined Rotherham United for £5,000. He later moved to Doncaster Rovers in February 1968 as part of a player exchange deal. His debut for Doncaster was in a 2–0 home win against Brentford on 10 February 1968. That April, he scored both goals in a 2–2 draw with Bradford City. Clish played a key role in Doncaster's title-winning 1968–69 season, securing promotion to Division 3. However, his career was disrupted by a leg injury sustained in August 1969 during a match against Shrewsbury Town, from which he never fully recovered. After making 111 league and cup appearances and scoring four goals for Doncaster, Clish was released at the end of the 1971–72 season. He later played for Gainsborough Trinity.
