Cammile Adams
Natalie Cammile Adams (born September 11, 1991) is an American competitive swimmer specializing in butterfly events. She represented the United States in the 200-meter butterfly at both the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Born in Houston, Texas, she attended Cypress Woods High School and began competing at a young age. At 15, she placed second in the 100-yard butterfly and third in the 500-yard freestyle at the 2007 UIL State Championships. By 17, she finished fourth in the women's 200-meter butterfly at the 2009 U.S. Nationals with a time of 2:10.25. At 18, she won the 500-yard freestyle at the 2010 Texas State Championship.
Adams swam for Texas A&M University from 2011 to 2014 under coach Steve Bultman, winning four Big 12 individual championships in the 200-yard butterfly, 500-yard freestyle, and 400-yard individual medley. She was an All-American after finishing second in the 200-yard butterfly at the 2012 NCAA Championships and won the same event at the 2014 NCAA Championships.
At the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, Adams qualified for her first Olympics by winning the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:06.76. She finished fifth in the finals at the 2012 London Olympics. For the 2016 Rio Olympics, she trained with coach David Marsh and finished fourth in the 200-meter butterfly with a career-best time of 2:05.90. Adams also won gold at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships and silver at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in her signature event.
