Aviv Nevo
Aviv "Vivi" Nevo, born in 1965 in Bucharest, Romania, moved to Tel Aviv with his parents as an infant. His parents, a chemical engineer and an anesthesiologist, later divorced, leaving him an only child. Nevo, who is Jewish, built his fortune from an initial $10 million inheritance.
In the 1980s, Stan Berk, a former hedge fund manager, hired Nevo after meeting him at a Los Angeles gym. Nevo worked for Berk from 1985 to 1988 before disappearing from view. He later resurfaced, having befriended billionaires and media titans. Using his inheritance, Nevo opened trading accounts at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Allen & Co., earning an invitation to Sun Valley. By making strategic trades during the late 1990s dot-com bubble, he significantly grew his wealth.
Nevo’s venture capital firm, NV Investments, invests in technology companies worldwide. He was an early backer of The Weinstein Company and became the largest individual shareholder in Time Warner. Nevo is known for avoiding publicity, refusing interviews, and being referred to as an "international man of mystery" by friends. In 2008, he confirmed rumors of his engagement to Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, though the couple separated in 2010.
