The Zhizhich brothers were unemployed vagrants who had been travelling around Russia for several years by train. They murdered three people in the Vologda Oblast between January and October 2003. The brothers were found guilty after trial, with Alexander receiving a life sentence and Viktor sentenced to 23 years imprisonment. They were sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 25 years, and a maximum sentence of life. They are serving their sentences in a Russian prison in the town of Yekimovskaya, near the city of Arkhangelsk. The sentence was handed down by a Russian court on November 6, 2013.
