Ana Adriana Săftoiu, born on 11 September 1967, is a Romanian journalist and politician. She graduated from the Romanian-Spanish department at Bucharest University in 1992 and later pursued Comparative Literature and journalism studies. Her career included roles as a journalist for Rompres (1993–1996) and Mediafax (1996–1998), press secretary for the Romanian government (1998–1999), cabinet director at the Transport Ministry (2000–2001), and head of the press bureau for the Democratic Party (PD) from 2001 to 2004. In December 2004, she was elected to the Romanian Chamber of Deputies as a PD member but resigned five days later upon being appointed as an adviser and press secretary to President Traian Băsescu. During her tenure, she faced conflicts, notably with Defence Minister Teodor Atanasiu, whom she accused of abusing his office by using Army intelligence to spy on her, leading to Atanasiu's suspension and resignation. Săftoiu resigned from the Băsescu administration in March 2007, citing personal reasons, though speculation linked her departure to rumors about her marriage and an alleged extramarital affair. She later worked at Capital Promotion, a Bucharest consulting firm (2007–2008), joined the National Liberal Party (PNL) in 2008, and won a seat in Prahova County's Chamber of Deputies in 2010.
