Asa Lynn "Ace" Powell was a prolific American painter and sculptor. His works reflect his love of frontier imagery. His best known painting is a 4.8 foot-high mural on Lake McDonald. Powell died on January 25, 1978. He worked in Glacier National Park and died in the state of Montana. He was a close friend of fellow artist Charles Russell. He never married and had four children. He is survived by his son Dave and his daughter Thelma. He died in Glacier Park, Montana, in the year of his 80th birthday. He will be remembered for his paintings of the Blackfeet Indians. He also made sculptures in bronze, terracotta, and wood. His work was sold in 2013.
