The 1970–71 Kent Football League season marked the fifth year of the competition, which featured 20 clubs, including nine reserves teams. Fifteen clubs carried over from the previous season, while five new clubs joined: Slade Green Athletic, Ashford Town Reserves, Bexley United Reserves, Hastings United Reserves, and Tonbridge Reserves. The first round included all 20 clubs, while the second round granted byes to six teams, resulting in eight competitors for the quarterfinals. The final was held at Sittingbourne F.C. In the second round, Bexley United Reserves defeated Whitstable Town 3–2, and Tunbridge Wells beat Chatham Town 4–3. Other teams advanced with byes. In the first round, Dartford Amateurs won against Snowdown Colliery Welfare 1–0, Ramsgate Athletic Reserves defeated Slade Green Athletic 5–2, Faversham Town beat Folkestone Reserves 2–1, Deal Town Reserves lost to Bexley United Reserves 2–3, Kent Police edged Crockenhill 1–0, Hastings United Reserves won against Sittingbourne 2–1, Brett Sports defeated Ashford Town Reserves 2–0, and Tunbridge Wells beat Margate Reserves 2–0.
