The 1912 Nebraska lieutenant gubernatorial election took place on November 5, 1912, with Republican nominee Samuel Roy McKelvie defeating Democratic nominee Herman Diers, Socialist Party nominee W. T. Jeffryes, and Prohibition Party nominee Theodore J. Shrode. The election followed the death of incumbent Lieutenant Governor Melville R. Hopewell on May 2, 1911. John H. Morehead, president pro tempore of the Nebraska Senate, served as acting lieutenant governor but did not run for the office in 1912, instead seeking the gubernatorial seat.

In the Democratic primary, Herman Diers ran unopposed. A businessman and banker from Gresham, Nebraska, Diers had previously served in the Nebraska Senate (1909–1911) and House of Representatives (1901–1903). The Republican primary featured four candidates: Martin L. Fries, a farmer and former lumber industry businessman from Arcadia; L. W. Hague, a lawyer from Minden; Samuel Roy McKelvie, president and manager of *The Nebraska Farmer* newspaper and a state representative since 1911 from Lincoln; and Lorin A. Varner, a lawyer, publisher, and state senator from Sterling.

In the general election, McKelvie secured the lieutenant governorship against Diers, Jeffryes, a physician from Horsefoot, and Shrode, the Prohibition nominee. The election was held concurrently with the 1912 Nebraska gubernatorial election.
