The 130th Rescue Squadron (130 RQS), a unit of the California Air National Guard's 129th Rescue Wing, operates from Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View, California. Equipped with four HC-130J Combat King II aircraft, the squadron conducts combat search-and-rescue missions and provides aerial refueling support for HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters. The HC-130Js extend the range of these helicopters during operations.

Established on October 1, 2003, by Air Force Special Operations Command as part of a reorganization, the 130 RQS was created to separate fixed-wing, helicopter, and pararescue elements within the 129th Rescue Wing. The squadron received its first HC-130J in April 2018.

In combat theaters, the 130 RQS operates under the direction of the theater commander to conduct personnel recovery missions, such as rescuing downed airmen. Additional missions include noncombatant evacuation operations, airlift support, and aiding special operations forces. Domestically, the squadron responds to state emergencies like natural disasters, supports law enforcement, and conducts search-and-rescue, medical evacuations, and humanitarian aid efforts.

The 130 RQS has supported Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom as part of the Global War on Terrorism. Based in California, the unit is capable of worldwide deployment.
