The commune of Évry Ville Nouvelle, created in the 1960s, is in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. On 1 January 2019, it was merged into the new commune Évried Courcouronnes. The name "Évry" comes from the Gallic name Eburacon or Eburiacos, meaning "land of Eburos" (a Gallic patronym) It is located 25.0 km from the center of Paris in the "new town" of ÉVry V Belle Nouvelles. It is situated in the prefecture of the department of Essonne, north of Paris. It was first called "Éve-Paracels," and later it was added a "c" before being shortened to "ÉVry" It is now in the commune région of Arras.
