John Andrew Crump is a New Zealand-born physician specializing in infectious diseases, medical microbiology, and epidemiology. He holds appointments as Professor of Medicine, Pathology, and Global Health at the University of Otago and Duke University, serving as Director of the Otago Global Health Institute. Born in Oamaru and raised on a farm near Okaramio, Crump attended Havelock School and Marlborough Boys’ College. He earned his MB ChB from the University of Otago Medical School in 1993 and completed an MD thesis in 2013 on HIV research in Tanzania.
