Nowhere Man EP
"Nowhere Man," the 12th extended play (EP) by The Beatles, was released on July 8, 1966. It featured four tracks from their album *Rubber Soul*, which had been released in December 1965. Available only in mono with catalogue number GEP 8952, the EP included "Nowhere Man," "Drive My Car," "Michelle," and "You Won't See Me."
In the UK, it reached number 4 on the Record Retailer EP chart. In the U.S., two tracks were omitted from Capitol Records' version of *Rubber Soul* and included on this EP instead. Additionally, "Nowhere Man" was released as a single in February 1966 in the U.S. and Canada. The track "Michelle" achieved success in Europe and New Zealand.
Music critics Roy Carr and Tony Tyler criticized the EP as a record company tactic to capitalize on popular album tracks. Bruce Eder noted that while the packaging was appealing, albums were becoming more artistically significant and relevant, rendering EPs less important. This marked a shift as The Beatles began taking greater control over their releases.
The EP's track listing included:
All songs were written by Lennon–McCartney.
