The Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) was a T20 cricket competition in Sri Lanka that aimed to become the country's premier league. Established with high ambitions, it faced challenges from its inception, including the postponement of the 2011 season and the adoption of a franchise system in 2012. The league featured significant marketing efforts, including theme songs, mascots, and global broadcasting through YouTube, which aimed to enhance its reach and economic impact.

Despite initial success in 2012, organizational issues and sponsorship challenges led to the cancellation of the 2013 and 2014 seasons. By 2014, it was replaced by the Super 4's T20 league. However, a new iteration, the Lanka Premier League, emerged in 2020, marking Sri Lanka's renewed commitment to competitive cricket with a fresh format and structure.
