International School Ho Chi Minh City - American Academy
The International School Ho Chi Minh City - American Academy (ISHCMC - American Academy) is an international school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, catering to students aged 11 to 18. It is part of the Cognita group, alongside two other schools in Vietnam: International School Ho Chi Minh City and International School Saigon Pearl.
The school offers a full American curriculum under the AERO framework, aligning with U.S. national standards across math, science, English, and social studies. Students from Grades 6 to 12 take the MAP assessments twice a year in English, Reading, and Math.
English language instruction is provided, with an EAL program based on the WIDA framework. This helps students progress through six stages of language acquisition toward native speaker proficiency.
ISHCMC - American Academy is the only school in Vietnam offering early university credit via the Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA). Students can take university-level courses using Syracuse's materials, earning credits while still in high school. They receive both an American high school diploma and a SUPA transcript.
The school provides a University Counseling Program with professional support for university applications, tours, and financial aid. Senior students participate in a University Boot Camp focused on applications. The program is supported by a University Counseling Suite.
Additionally, ISHCMC - American Academy offers the Advanced Placement (AP) Program, with over 90% of U.S. colleges accepting AP scores for credit or placement.
