Chinwe Veronica Anunobi
Chinwe Veronica Anunobi is a Nigerian professor of library and information sciences and serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Library of Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1992), a Master of Library Science (MLS) from Imo State University, Owerri (1997), and a Ph.D. in Library & Information Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2006). She is also a graduate of the Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) in Israel. Anunobi was appointed CEO of the National Library of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 2, 2021. Prior to this role, she served as University Librarian at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, where she established key initiatives such as the ICT unit and Electronic Thesis & Dissertation system. She also worked as a digital librarian at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, where she pioneered the Digital Library. In her role at the National Library of Nigeria, Anunobi has implemented significant reforms, including the introduction of an e-book database, stakeholder engagement for educational initiatives, adoption of modern library tools like OPAC, and internet access through STARLINK. She has also collaborated with IT stakeholders and AI-focused NGOs, enhanced online presence via social media, introduced staff management systems, and launched children’s programs and rural outreach campaigns.
