Cubitt Artists
Cubitt Artists is a British artist-run organization founded in 1991, operating as an art gallery, studio provider, and educator. Initially located in Goods Way, London's Kings Cross, it has since moved to Cubitt Street, Caledonia Street, and is now based at Angel. The Cubitt Gallery receives funding from Arts Council England, enabling the 18-month Cubitt Curatorial Fellowship for emerging curators. Notable past fellows include Polly Staple, Emily Pethick, David Bussel, Tom Morton, Bart van der Heide, Michelle Cotton, Fiona Parry, Jamie Stevens, Fatima Hellberg, Morgan Quaintance, Louise Shelly, Languid Hands, and current recipient Seán Elder. The gallery has exhibited works by prominent artists such as Adam Chodzko, Aleksandra Mir, Allen Ruppersberg, Angela Bulloch, Billy Childish, Boris Groys, Carol Bove, Cathy Wilkes, David Robbins, Florian Hecker, Gunter Förg, Gustav Metzger, Harun Farocki, Henri Chopin, Ida Applebroog, Jack Goldstein, Jimmy Robert, Kenneth Anger, Marjetica Potrč, Matthew Day Jackson, Paul Noble, Tacita Dean, Willem de Rooij, Tris Vonna Michell, Ajamu, R.I.P Germain, and Camara Taylor. To support its program, Cubitt released the Cubitt Print Box in 2000, a limited edition set of works by artists including Alex Katz, Ceal Floyer, Chris Ofili, Elizabeth Wright, Gareth Jones, Giorgio Sadotti, Hilary Lloyd, James Pyman, Jane Simpson, Jochen Klein, Martin Creed, Matthew Higgs, Paul McCarthy, Paul Noble, Peter Doig, Peter Pommerer, Piotr Uklański, Scott King, Tacita Dean, and Wolfgang Tillmans. Cubitt Studios provides central London space for up to 30 artists, with past members like Chris Ofili, Dinos and Jake Chapman, Matthew Higgs, and Peter Doig.
