201516 Wolverhampton Wanderers FC season
The 2015–16 season marked Wolverhampton Wanderers' 117th year in competitive English football. The club competed in the Football League Championship for a second consecutive season after being promoted from League One the previous year. They finished the campaign in 14th place, one of their lowest finishes in 25 years, failing to qualify for the playoffs.
During the season, owner Steve Morgan stepped down as chairman and put the club up for sale, though no sale had been finalized by the end of the season. This period saw increased supporter unrest, exacerbated by the January transfer window when top scorer Benik Afobe was sold to Premier League club Bournemouth.
The Football League Championship featured 24 teams, with each team playing every other side twice. The competition awarded three points for a win, one point for a draw, and zero for a loss. A provisional fixture list was released in June 2015 but was subject to changes due to television coverage or police concerns.
