La Homa Texas
La Homa is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States, with a population of 11,267 as of the 2020 Census. It is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission Metropolitan Statistical Area and covers an area of 6.9 square miles (18 km²), all land.
In the 2010 Census, La Homa had a population of 11,985, with a population density of 1,521.6 inhabitants per square mile. The racial makeup was predominantly white (87.89%), with a high percentage of Hispanic or Latino residents (97.73%). Households were mostly families, with 75.7% being married couples and an average household size of 4.37.
Economically, the median household income was $16,887, with a per capita income of $5,180. Over half of the population lived below the poverty line, particularly affecting children (63.9%) and those aged 65 or older (62.2%).
La Homa is served by the La Joya Independent School District, with several elementary, middle, and high schools listed. Additionally, the South Texas Independent School District operates magnet schools in the area.
