Wyndham Vale is a rapidly growing suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, located 31 km southwest of the city's central business district. It falls under the City of Wyndham local government area and had a population of 20,518 at the 2021 census. Previously part of Wyndham Vale until March 2016 was Manor Lakes. The region has a rich history as it was inhabited by Aboriginal clans from three language groups: Wadawurrung, Woiwurrung, and Boon wurrung. European settlement in the early 1800s led to farming and pastoral activities, with estates like Cobbledink Farm established in 1868. Suburban growth began in the late 1990s and early 2000s, accelerating after June 2012 when Melbourne's growth boundary was expanded. Geographically, Wyndham Vale is part of the Newer Volcanics Province, characterized by flat landscapes with remnant grasslands and creeks flowing into Port Phillip Bay. The area includes Lollipop and Cherry Creeks. Education-wise, Wyndham Vale has several schools, including Iramoo Primary School, Riverbend Primary School, and Manor Lakes P-12 College. Transport infrastructure is well-developed, featuring roads like Ballan Road and McGrath Road, enhanced by the 2015 Regional Rail Link project. The Wyndham Vale train station, opened in 2015, offers rail services to Geelong and plans for electrification by 2031. Bus services were upgraded in 2015, boosting patronage by 45%, connecting the area to suburbs like Werribee and Hoppers Crossing.
