Antler Luggage
Antler is a British luggage company founded in 1914 by John Boultbee Brooks, the owner of Brooks England, a renowned bicycle seat manufacturer. Originally headquartered in Criterion Works, Birmingham, Antler produced leather wardrobe trunks for ocean voyages and motor trunks designed to attach to cars. The stag’s head and antlers, inspired by Brooks’ interest in wildlife, became the brand's enduring logo.
During World War II, Antler shifted production to military equipment like haversacks and webbing belts. After the war, the company resumed manufacturing soft-sided luggage. The 1950s saw a demand for versatile travel products as tourism grew with increased air travel, leading Antler to combine soft and hard materials in their designs.
By the 1960s, Antler had expanded its operations, employing 400 workers and exporting internationally. In 2010, Lloyds Development Capital supported a management buyout, after which Antler relocated from Bury, Greater Manchester, to London in 2013. The company relaunched its sister brand, RevelationLondon, in 2016.
In 2017, Antler was acquired by Endless LLP and later sold to ATR Holdings in 2020. The pandemic caused financial strain, leading the company into administration that year. However, Antler emerged as a new registered company, ATR Brands Ltd, resuming operations in July 2020 with its headquarters on Dover Street, London.
