The 40th Canadian Parliament's Liberal Shadow Cabinet was announced by Michael Ignatieff on September 7, 2010. The Shadow Cabinet includes various roles led by Ignatieff as the Leader of the Official Opposition and Intergovernmental Affairs. Ralph Goodale serves as Deputy Leader, with David McGuinty as Opposition House Leader and Judy Foote as Deputy House Leader. Marcel Proulx is the Chief Opposition Whip, Yasmin Ratansi as Deputy Opposition Whip, Jim Cowan as Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Claudette Tardif as Deputy Leader in the Senate, and Jim Munson as Chief Opposition Whip in the Senate.
