- Anandam* (transl. "Happiness") is a 2001 Indian Telugu-language romance film directed by Srinu Vaitla, starring Akash and Rekha in lead roles. The movie's music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. It became a massive hit at the box office, running for over 200 days in some centers and achieving commercial and critical success. The film propelled Akash to fame as an overnight star of the Telugu film industry. The plot revolves around Kiran (Akash) and Aishwarya (Rekha), childhood neighbors who frequently argue. After Aishwarya moves to Ooty, she discovers an unopened card meant for Deepika (Tanu Roy), whose family had previously lived in their home. Deepika had committed suicide due to a forced marriage arrangement. Aishwarya decides to inform Vamsi (Deepika's boyfriend) about her death but finds out he died in an accident while trying to reach Deepika. Kiran, who is Vamsi's friend, receives a letter from Aishwarya and starts exchanging letters with her, pretending to be Vamsi. This leads to a emotional connection between them, and they eventually fall in love. The film was remade in Kannada as *Ananda*, in Tamil as *Inidhu Inidhu Kaadhal Inidhu*, and in Hindi as *Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum*. Initially, Uday Kiran and Shriya Saran were considered for lead roles, but Akash, a newcomer, was chosen despite not knowing Telugu at the time. Rekha Vedavyas made her Telugu debut in this film.
