2003 Queensland Cup
The 2003 Queensland Cup season was the eighth edition of Queensland's top-level statewide rugby league competition, organized by the Queensland Rugby League. It featured 12 teams competing over a 26-week period from March to September. The Redcliffe Dolphins defeated the Burleigh Bears 31–18 in the Grand Final at Dolphin Oval, securing back-to-back premierships for the first time. Wynnum halfback Denny Lambert was named Player of the Year, earning the Courier Mail Medal.
The Tweed Heads Seagulls, Australia’s oldest provincial club, joined the competition after the Logan Scorpions folded. They became the first New South Wales-based team to participate. The Souths Magpies rebranded as the Souths Logan Magpies following their acquisition of the remaining assets from the Logan club. Additionally, the East Coast Tigers reverted to their original name, Easts Tigers.
Affiliations for the season included the Brisbane Broncos with the Toowoomba Clydesdales, the Melbourne Storm with the Norths Devils, and the North Queensland Cowboys with the North Queensland Young Guns. In the Grand Final, Burleigh, as minor premiers, faced Redcliffe after defeating them in the major semi-final. Redcliffe bounced back from their loss, defeating Wynnum in the preliminary final to secure their fifth consecutive Grand Final appearance.
The match saw Aaron Barba score three tries for Redcliffe, while Shane Perry sealed the victory with a field goal late in the game. The win marked Redcliffe’s fourth premiership in eight seasons and their first back-to-back titles. Rookie of the Year honors went to Stanley Fau of the Souths Logan Magpies.
