Bruno Giuranna, born on April 6, 1933, in Milan, Italy, is a renowned Italian violist. He is the son of composer Barbara Giuranna and completed his musical studies at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. In 1951, he co-founded the Italian chamber orchestra "I Musici" with fellow musicians. Giuranna was also a founding member of the Quartetto di Roma and the Italian String Trio, with whom he recorded Beethoven's complete string trios for Deutsche Grammophon in the 1960s. He revisited this project in 1989 with Anne-Sophie Mutter and Mstislav Rostropovich, earning a Grammy nomination in 1990.

Giuranna has performed premieres such as Giorgio Federico Ghedini's *Musica da Concerto* under Herbert von Karajan and has soloed with prestigious orchestras like the Berlin Philharmonic and La Scala, collaborating with conductors including Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti. He held professorships at institutions like the Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin (1983-1998), Santa Cecilia Conservatory, and the Royal College of Music in London. Additionally, he was artistic director of the Orchestra da Camera di Padova e il Veneto from 1983 to 1992.

In 1987, he received the Cavaliere di Gran Croce al Merito from the Italian president. Giuranna transcribed Bach's *Goldberg Variations*, premiered by Trio Broz in 2008. He was a member of the Trio Italiano d'Archi and I Musici di Roma. As of 2020, he serves as president of ESTA's central board, continuing his involvement in music education and performance.
