Summer Symphony
"Summer Symphony" is a song co-written by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield, arranged by John Farrar, and produced by Pat Aulton. It appears on the album *Sounds Of Sedaka*, which is the UK release of the 1969 album *Workin' On A Groovy Thing*. This album was recorded in Australia for Festival Records.
Neil Sedaka's career saw a resurgence with the recording of "Star Crossed Lovers" in Australia in 1968, leading to a #1 hit there. The following year, he recorded an album in Australia, featuring arrangements by John Farrar, who later became known for guiding Olivia Newton-John's career.
"Summer Symphony," one of seven tracks written by Sedaka and Greenfield, was included on this album. Together, they wrote several hits, including "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do." The song was also recorded as a non-album single in 1969 by Lesley Gore for Mercury Records, serving as the B-side to her medley hit, "98.6/Lazy Day" (U.S. AC #38).
In 1970, songwriter and producer Jack Gold released his own version of "Summer Symphony," which reached #10 on the U.S. Easy Listening chart. The song was later re-released in 1971, reaching #34. It was included on the compilation LP *Make The Music Play (Neil Sedaka's Songwriting Gems 1963-1971)*.
Additionally, The Society of Seven recorded a lyricized version with Tony Ruivivar on lead vocals in 1972, featured on their album *Simply Ourselves*.
