World Relief

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization founded in 1944 to address the urgent needs of war-torn Europe following World War II. It operates as the humanitarian arm of the National Association of Evangelicals and has worked in over 100 countries, responding to crises such as natural disasters, extreme poverty, violence, and mass displacement. Currently, it operates in more than 19 countries worldwide and 22 U.S. cities, leveraging local church resources to address community-specific challenges.

The organization’s work includes humanitarian disaster response, providing emergency aid like food, clean water, shelter, and healthcare, while also building long-term resilience through initiatives such as climate-responsive agriculture and peacebuilding. It has responded to crises in regions like Mozambique, Haiti, Sudan, and Ukraine. World Relief also focuses on community development, implementing programs in areas such as savings, health, education, and gender equality.

Refugee resettlement is a key part of its mission, with services including job training, language assistance, and legal support. Notable individuals resettled by World Relief include Clemantine Wamariya, author of *The Girl Who Smiled Beads*. The organization advocates for policies supporting displaced persons, such as the Afghan Adjustment Act and pathways to citizenship for Dreamers.

World Relief maintains high standards of financial transparency and accountability, earning recognition from organizations like the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and GuideStar. Leadership includes Myal Greene as president/CEO since 2021, supported by a board of directors and executives overseeing operations and finances.
