Rdiger Grube

Dr. Rüdiger Grube, born on August 2, 1951, in Hamburg, is a German engineer who served as chairman of Deutsche Bahn from 2009 to 2017 and EADS from 2007 to 2009. He grew up on a farm and pursued technical training in metal aircraft construction before studying automotive engineering and business education at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, where he also taught and later earned a doctorate.

Grube's career began at Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm, followed by roles at DaimlerBenz and DaimlerChrysler. He became CEO of Deutsche Bahn in 2009 amid economic challenges, implementing cost cuts and restructuring after a prolonged strike. His tenure ended in 2017 due to contract disputes.

Post-Deutsche Bahn, he joined Lazard as chairman of investment banking in Germany. Grube also holds several non-executive roles, including with Mitsubishi, McLaren Group, and EADS. He is involved in numerous corporate boards and non-profit organizations, such as the German Cancer Research Center and Alexander Otto Sports Foundation.

In his personal life, Grube has a son and daughter from his first marriage and married Cornelia Poletto in 2015.
