Paciano Aniceto

Paciano Basilio Aniceto was born on March 9, 1937, in Santa Ana, Pampanga, Philippines. He was ordained a priest on December 23, 1962, and served various parishes under the Diocese of San Fernando before it was elevated to an Archdiocese by Pope Paul VI on March 17, 1975.

Aniceto was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Tuguegarao City and Titular Bishop of Tlos on April 7, 1979. He was consecrated as Bishop on May 27, 1979, with Pope John Paul II as his principal consecrator. From October 20, 1983, to January 31, 1989, he served as Bishop of the Diocese of Iba, Zambales.

On January 31, 1989, Aniceto was appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, succeeding Archbishop Oscar Cruz. During his 25-year tenure, he presided over the installation ceremonies of three Bishops of Balanga: Honesto Ongtioco (appointed April 8, 1998), Socrates Villegas (appointed May 3, 2004), and Ruperto Santos (appointed April 1, 2010).

Aniceto resigned as Archbishop of San Fernando on October 27, 2014, and was succeeded by Bishop Florentino Lavarias. On June 24, 2024, he presided over a concelebrated mass for the feast of St. John Evangelist in Dinalupihan, Bataan, alongside priests from the Diocese of Balanga during a sede vacante period.
