Markus Kienzl

Markus Kienzl is an Austrian musician, composer, and producer born on March 16, 1973, and based in Vienna. He co-founded the band Sofa Surfers and began his solo career with the EP "Tilt" in 1999. His debut album, "Product," was released in 2005, featuring the single "Dundy Lion feat Paul St. Hilaire," which was used in the video game *Midnight Club: Los Angeles*. Kienzl produced music for films like *Dad's Dead* (2006) and collaborated with Richard Dorfmeister on a remix that earned a Grammy nomination in 2016 for Best Rap Song due to its use in Drake's "Energy."

In 2009, he released his second solo album, "Density," and produced Tania Saedi's debut album *Exhale*. Kienzl received an Amadeus Austrian Music Award nomination in 2010 as a solo artist. He has composed scores for TV series such as *Tatort* (2017–2021), *Dead End* (2019), and *Die Ibiza Affäre* (2021). His work on *Das ewige Leben* earned him an Austrian Film Award in 2016, shared with Wolfgang Frisch. Kienzl's third solo album, "THREE," was released in 2024, with instrumental versions featured in the Arte series *Metrocosmos*.

His discography includes albums like *Product* (2005), *Density* (2009), and *THREE* (2024), as well as EPs such as *Tilt EP* (1999) and *For God's Sake EP* (2014). Kienzl has received multiple awards, including the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for Best Album Electronic/Dance in 2010 with Sofa Surfers and Romy Awards for Best Feature Film and TV/Streaming Series. He is a member of the Austrian Film Academy.
