Lwal Uguak

Lwal Uguak, born on March 30, 2000, is a Canadian professional football defensive end who plays for the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL. He began his college career at the University of Connecticut (UConn) from 2018 to 2021 but did not play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his time at UConn, he appeared in 34 games, recording 69 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. In 2022, he transferred to Texas Christian University (TCU), where he played 14 games and contributed with ten tackles and another fumble recovery.

Uguak joined the Montreal Alouettes in 2023 after being drafted seventh overall in the CFL Draft. He made his professional debut on June 10, 2023, against the Ottawa Redblacks and earned his first start on September 23, 2023, becoming a starter for the final five games of the season. That year, he played all 18 regular-season games, amassing 16 defensive tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and five pass knockdowns.

In January 2024, Uguak signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a reserve/future contract but was waived on August 27. He subsequently re-signed with the Montreal Alouettes on September 18, 2024.

Uguak's family moved from Sudan to Canada in 1997. Born in Edmonton, he is the middle child of four siblings and has a brother, Aher Uguak, who plays professional basketball.
