Jason Dawe presenter

Jason Andrew Dawe (born 4 May 1967) is an English journalist and television presenter. Originally from Cornwall, Dawe worked in the car industry before becoming a motoring columnist for *The Sunday Times*. He also presented the first series of the rebooted *Top Gear* on BBC Two alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, but was replaced by James May in subsequent series.

Dawe is a regular contributor to *The Sunday Times* motoring section, focusing on used cars. He collaborates with Nick Rufford on video car reviews and writes for various motoring magazines. He occasionally contributes to the Automobile Association magazine as well.

In television, Dawe initially joined *Top Gear* after Jeremy Clarkson wanted James May but was rejected by the BBC. After the first series, May sought to stay, leading to discussions about adding a fourth presenter or retaining Richard Hammond. Hammond remained due to support from Andy Wilman, the show's executive producer.

Following his departure from *Top Gear*, Dawe presented ITV’s *Used Car Roadshow* with Penny Mallory until 2007 and later co-hosted *Classic Gear* (2009–2010) with Mallory and Alice Crocker. He reunited with Mallory in 2020 to host the Body Shop Awards.

Dawe is known for his expertise in motoring journalism and television presenting, with a focus on classic and used cars.
