Amo Township is located in Cottonwood County, Minnesota, with a population of 132 as of the 2010 census. Organized in 1873, its name "Amo" is derived from Latin, meaning "I love." The township covers a total area of 35.8 square miles, primarily land (35.1 square miles) with a small water portion (0.7 square miles). As of the 2000 census, Amo Township had 140 residents, comprising 52 households and 40 families. The population density was 4.0 inhabitants per square mile, with 63 housing units averaging 1.8 per square mile. The racial makeup was entirely White. Household statistics included 36.5% with children under 18, 73.1% married couples, 3.8% female-headed households without a husband, and 21.2% non-families.
