32 Flavors

"32 Flavors" is a song written and performed by Ani DiFranco, appearing on her sixth studio album *Not a Pretty Girl* (1995). A variation of the song was featured in the 1999 Canadian film *Better Than Chocolate*. The title is inspired by Baskin-Robbins' "31 flavors" slogan.

Alana Davis covered the song as her debut single in 1997, included on her album *Blame It on Me*. The single peaked at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100. Davis felt uncomfortable reinterpreting DiFranco's lyrics but made changes with personal touches, which DiFranco later accepted despite initial reservations.

The song was used in an NFL ad campaign in 1999, featuring players who had worn jersey number "32." Other versions include a remade track by British acid-jazz band D'Influence and covers by Elle Varner and Dianne Reeves. Reeves described the song as highlighting unsung contributions of others.

In popular culture, Lenny Kravitz references "32 Flavors" in his 2014 song "You're My Flavor," saying "All 32 baby."
