Bikala was a Thoroughbred racehorse born in Ireland who achieved significant success as both a racehorse and a sire. Purchased cheaply as a yearling, he went on to become a top performer in Europe during the early 1980s.

In his racing career, Bikala won several notable races, including the Group One Prix du Jockey Club in 1981 and the Prix Ganay in 1982. He also finished second in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in both 1980 and 1981, showcasing his consistent ability to perform at a high level against strong competition.

Bikala was highly regarded during his racing career, being ranked as the third-highest-rated horse in Europe by Timeform in 1981 and the second-highest three-year-old colt in Europe according to the International Classification. His performance in major races highlighted his ability to compete with the best horses of his generation.

After retiring from racing, Bikala became a successful breeding stallion at the Haras du Val Henry near Tortisambert, Calvados. Among his notable offspring were Apple Tree, who won several international middle-distance races, and other accomplished horses such as Polytain, Grey Jack, and Bimbola.

Bikala's legacy is marked by his impressive racing achievements and his continued influence through his offspring in the breeding world.
