Berwala Khurd is a village in Ellenabad Tehsil of Sirsa district, Haryana, India, located 9 km west of Ellenabad and 53 km west of Sirsa. The name "Khurd" means "small" in Persian, distinguishing it from Berwala Kalan (meaning "big"). The village lies on the border with Rajasthan and has no public transit, relying instead on motorbikes, cars, and tractors for transportation. Berwala Khurd has 4,000 bigha of agricultural land and a population of approximately 4,500 people. It is home to the Sahid Radhey Shyam Bhaker government senior secondary school. Nearby villages include Dhaulpalia (south), Talwara Khurd (northeast), and Berwala Kalan (north in Rajasthan). The Indira Gandhi Canal runs 4 km west of the village, providing water for agriculture. The village has two old wells that were historically crucial for its establishment. During the village's founding, dug wells and leather bags filled with imported drinking water were used to meet criteria for potable water. An officer approved the village after tasting water from a well disguised as having drinkable water. Berwala Khurd is administrated by a Sarpanch under the Panchyati Raaj Act. The village has a mixed population of SC, OBC, and General categories, with a literacy rate of 69.27% (lower than Haryana's 75.55%). Male literacy is 80.57%, while female literacy is 57.24%. The average sex ratio is 941, higher than Haryana's state average of 879. The child sex ratio is 966, also higher than the state average of 834.
