National Independent Political League

The National Independent Political League was a political group in the United States in the early 20th century. It was founded in 1908 by William Monroe Trotter. NIPL "foreshadowed the militant organizations of the 1950s and 1960s that bypassed the NAACP" NIPl, which opposed the Republican Party and Jim Crow cars, died in 1921. The group's last official conference was held on July 12, 1931. The NIPS split into two groups in July 1912. The National Independent Equal Rights League was founded around 1919. NICRL's mission was to eliminate barriers to equal voting rights for all citizens. NACL later became known as the National Independent African American Political League. It passed away on August 26, 1930.
