The Hare Mail is a 1931 animated short film produced by Walter Lantz Productions, featuring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, with Mickey Rooney voicing the character. In the plot, Oswald sells newspapers when he hears a distress call from a nearby house. He discovers a large bear interrogating a girl and an old lynx about the location of some money. After being pushed aside by the bear, Oswald seeks help from the police but finds them distracted at a restaurant. The bear eventually forces the lynx to reveal the money hidden in his beard and escapes with it. Oswald returns to rescue the girl, tied to a fan used as a buzz saw, and stops the machine. He then chases the bear, who uses an airplane to flee. Oswald clings to the plane's tail, builds another aircraft from exclamation marks, and enlists monkeys to help retrieve the stolen money. After disposing of the bear and recovering the money, Oswald jumps from the plane but his parachute fails. The girl and the lynx use the lynx's long beard to break his fall, and Oswald shares a kiss with the girl.
