The Hot Singles Sales chart, also known as the POS (point-of-sale) chart, was a weekly Billboard publication listing the best-selling physical singles in the United States, including CDs, vinyl, and cassettes. It was introduced on October 20, 1984, with Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" topping the first issue. This chart, along with others like Hot 100 Airplay, Hot Digital Songs, and Streaming Songs, contributed to the main Billboard Hot 100 chart.

During the 1980s and 1990s, the chart was highly significant. In the late 1990s, airplay-only singles were allowed on the Hot 100, and by the mid-2000s, digital downloads surpassed physical sales as the primary metric. If a physical single had an equivalent digital release with matching track listings, it counted toward the chart.

The chart最后一次在杂志上亮相是在2008年7月5日,由“Candle in the Wind 1997”/“Something About the Way You Look Tonight”占据榜首。
